Michelle is a Trained ASTAR Facilitator, has studied Fine Art, is a qualified teacher and Lifeline counsellor. She currently runs weekly ASTAR art classes for adults, and for children, in her beautiful Art and Soul Studio in Scarborough, Cape Town.

Michelle also runs customized workshops for groups of adults, children and organizations. Michelle has been immersed in the ASTAR philosophy for many years, completing her training as an ASTAR Facilitator in 2011.  In addition to the classes and workshops she runs, Michelle participates in her own  weekly practice of art making, with founder of the ASTAR philosophy, Lindy Solomon.

“Creating weekly is my own spiritual practice, my yoga or meditation... it’s a pause, it’s grounding, guiding and connecting. It’s such an integral part of my weekly rhythm now, that I can’t do without it!”

She comments enthusiastically, “I think the most exciting thing for me is beginning a new painting, with spontaneity and abandon, knowing that in its own time, week after week, the painting will gently reveal itself, the forms, the textures, the colours.  The significance of the piece in the end is always so profound.  It could never have been predicted, but it fits so snugly with me, as a reflection of who I am and of aspects in my life.

I am forever grateful to the freedom and awakening that the ASTAR approach to art making has offered me.  It has brought together my passions and I now have the privilege of sharing these with others.”
